FRM Vitamin C drink – cures most stuff! People are always asking about mixing VC for ease of taking and to carry around, so here's what I do. Basic drink: 5gm AA powder, about 1 oz "dark juice" (cranberry/pomegranate/blueberry etc - Northland) for flavor. (juice contains a lot of sugar, 4gm/oz, so keep it down) 16 Oz cup, filled with warm/hot tap water. My well, very good water, no chemicals. Great wake-up drink, equally good over ice in summer heat. And a little lemon and rum doesn't hurt at all! 4x/day will give you 20gm AA, and 2 qts water. If you are taking iodine, add 4 drop's Lugol's 5% = 25mg iodine, if you take more as I do, do this each time to suit. Whatever it takes for your daily total. I often add potassium chloride, aka KCl, aka "No Salt", when sweating from hard work - this is basically what "Gatorade" is, only much cheaper and stronger and less sugar. (leg/muscle cramps are pretty much always the result of lack of KCl and water) (If you are actively working, as athletes are, you utilize the sugar for energy, so it is OK to have more sugar in it; if you are not actively working, the sugar turns to fat and death.) Too much KCl will turn the red of the juice to a murky purple, and kill the flavor and tartness. If you go over, just add enough AA to make it red again. 4x/day = 20 gm VC, 100mg I, 64 oz H2O, maybe 1-2 gm Kcl There is alsoan endless discussionfrom “experts” about VC stability in solution, so maybe best to not have it mixed and sitting around all day. That said, when traveling I mix an even more concentrated version of the above in the 2qt juice bottle and drink it over 24-48 hours of /driving/work/no sleep. I do the same in summer when I'm working hard and sweating a lot. It works the same as fresh mixed for both situations. That mix is 30-50gm AA, whatever your daily or two daily iodine is, KCl as above, about 1” juice in the bottom Need to be sure to drink an additional 2 qts liquid for that. For me, that is usually my omnipresent coffee. Works fine. If you are using the pain control/repair program (see that file): The AA in this drink suffices for that. Just take the Ca/Mg/Zn and pantothenic acid pills with a good drink of the juice – no more AA needed then. Dehydration: It is said that 90% of people are significantly dehydrated, defined as>2% of body weight. Since water is 1lb per pint, 2% is 2 pints for 100lb person, 3 for 150lb person, etc. (I cured 95% of the headaches I had daily all my life when I simply added 16oz water first thing in the morning – in my coffee cup so I had to drink it to get any coffee!) Dehydration is usually clear in summer when you are sweating, but it can be even worse in air conditioned buildings/cars when you do not sweat – the humidity then is about like Death Valley. It is even more severe in winter, as heated buildings and beds create an environment far drier than Death Valley or the Sahara. Signs of dehydration include: Chapped lips, dry skin, longitudinal wrinkles in palm/finger skin, dry eyes/mouth, heartburn, headaches, mistaken impressions of hunger, reduced quantity of urine – may burn. Effects of dehydration include: Reduced ability to do simple mental work, like math – be sure children/students drink enough! Headache, heartburn/GERD, poor digestion, anxiety, confusion, urinary infections, general havoc with body processes, since they ALL occur in aqueous solutions, which will be too concentrated if you are dehydrated. Urine: the ultimate indicator of dehydration VC itself has diuretic effects, so use plenty of water with your AA. If you get overboard on AA and 'flush” that is very dehydrating, and causes potassium depletion too. Urine should be plentiful and very pale yellow to clear, except an hour or so after taking B2, when it will be bright yellow; anything else indicates a problem. Dark yellow = dehydration. Cloudy, burning. brown/red/black = real trouble - UTI/kidney infection, likely caused mostly by dehydration. Plenty of AA and a ton of water usually clears these. Certain foods can cause coloured urine though – beets = orange/pink/red, asparagus = greenish, but these are directly associated with those foods and go away quickly. These conditions seem to be genetic too, so some may never see them, even though they eat those foods.
